Joël Quere, associate at the GAEC de KERGOAT explains their breeding strategy: “We wish to  graze as much as possible, without giving any concentrates nor minerals”. Several factors allow this strategy. First, the geographical situation of the farm, in the center of Finistère. Secondly, a large investment has been made to facilitate access to the different plots of the farm. Finally, the ProCROSS genetics started about ten years ago from a Pie Rouge herd. “Our cows walk 3 km per day, so we pay attention on the feet & legs. Another selection criteria are solids.” Among the bulls they use, we find Neutrino and Ilanne for Montbéliarde; VR Vilperi, VR Farnam and VR Vario for VikingRed. “Our ProCROSS crosses are robust, fertile animals that are extremely well adapted to our organic grazing system.”
